Stewart Hollenstein shortlisted in K2K Urban Design competition

Stewart Hollenstein, JBA, Arcadia, Jess Scully and TTPP have been shortlisted as one of four teams to create a new vision for the future of Kensington and Kingsford Town Centres. The competition is organised by Randwick City Council. The four teams were chosen by an independent expert jury consisting of Malcolm Snow,Ben Hewett, Jennifer Neales, Kerry Clare and Tim Greer. The Mayor of Randwick Noel D’Souza said he is excited to see what the finalists will produce as they rethink the future of Kensington and Kingsford. “This won’t be an easy task as the four teams will need to respond to a brief that the community has helped to develop over the past four weeks. Our jury will be looking for innovation, creativity and sustainability."
Stewart Hollenstein contribute 'Urban Provocations' to the Central Sydney Planning Strategy

Stewart Hollenstein have assisted the City of Sydney in preparing a set of visualisations to capture the aims of the new Central Sydney Planning Strategy. The workincluded the design of a set of urban provocations for key public spaces and buildings within the city. The Central Sydney Planning Strategy is a 20-year growth strategy that updates successful urban planning strategies and introduces new approaches to manage today's environmental, social and economic challenges - the challenges of being a 'global city'.
Stewart Hollenstein envision new Cultural Spine for Shanghai

Stewart Hollenstein have unveiled a masterplan for the transformation of the North Bund in Shanghai. The proposal includes the creation of a 'People's Avenue' that connects a series of new cultural institutions, including a new market hall, city library, theatre, community centre, children's museum and a culture museum. The project was presented at the inaugural China Australia Urban Forum in Shanghai.
Stewart Hollenstein to reinvent Broken Hill Library

Construction update: Green Square Library + Plaza

Today we celebrated the excavation of Green Square Library and Plaza reaching full depth. The project sits at the heart of the new Green Square Town Centre and is scheduled for completion in early 2018

A Garden Library for Varna, Bulgaria

Stewart Hollenstein unveils vision for a Garden Library in Varna, Bulgaria. The proposal envisions a set of landscaped terraces, each with its own unique and identifiable character and relationship to the outside. The project was awarded an honourable mention in the international design competition for a new regional library for Varna.

An Urban Beach for Western Sydney

The project aims to create an inclusive water play and adventure environment for various age groups that is framed by a continuous shade and seating zone. Construction update: Green Square library + Plaza

Today marks an important milestone for the Green Square Library + Plaza project with the site handed over to the city of Sydney and allows construction to begin! The $40 million dollar library and plaza was won through an international design competition by Stewart Hollenstein.

Stewart Hollenstein wins Downtown Q Competition

Stewart Hollenstein, in association with Aspect Landscape and Stewart Architecture have won the downtown Q competition with their visionary proposal River Town. The proposal has the strategic potential to retain and enhance the best of Queanbeyan while facilitating essential future growth and diversification. Queens Bridge will be reinvented as an extension of Mainstreet that will serve to reconnect the city with the river while creating a major new symbol for the city and a new destination for visitors to Queanbeyan
Project update: Green Square library + Plaza

Stewart Hollenstein and a team including Stewart Architecture, Hassell and ARUP have submitted the Development Application for Green Square Library and Plaza to council for approval. The design maximises the amount of public space by placing a large plaza over the library roof.

A Play Terrain for all

Stewart Hollenstein has been shortlisted with its proposal for a moveable play terrain for the Fugitive Structures program at the Sherman Contemporary Arts Foundation. The proposal is made up of a set of play pieces carved from a large foam cube, creating an inviting and engaging back drop for a series of hosted events and informal gatherings.

Atlas of the Unbuilt World

Stewart Hollenstein has been invited to exhibit at the British Council Exhibition, Atlas of the Unbuilt World, held at the Bartlett in London, UK. Atlas of the Unbuilt World will provide a snap-shot of the future of architecture hosting over 60 models, from nearly 40 countries. Designed by former Bartlett student, Pernilla Ohrstedt, the exhibition will showcase architectural models of future projects from around the globe by some of the most by exciting practices and emerging studios working today. The projects have been nominated by international experts including architects, academics and writers and representatives from London’s embassies and cultural institutes.

Stewart Hollenstein wins the competition for Green Square Library and Plaza

Stewart Hollenstein has won the competition for a new library and plaza at Green Square in Sydney. The scheme, which merges the library and plaza into an active terrain, was described by jury member Glenn Murcutt as "dynamite". Placing the plaza over the library maximises the amount of public space and allows for the maximum solar gain into the plaza and library below.
